There is a hierarchy of subject matter within the still-life genre, with flowers and wine typically at the top, while vegetables and beer come very close to the bottom. It is an attempt to elevate these humblest of subjects by painting them in an 'old master' vibe. My thanks to Donna Kerrigan for her exquisite photographic reference. The canvas has been gallery-wrapped around the cradled ACM panel and the sides have been painted, so this painting can be hung as-is or can be framed.
