Hi, I'm an amateur artist living in the central belt of Scotland and took up art fairly recently. I began painting in 2018 when my wife gifted me a twelve x two-hour course in portrait painting at a Glasgow art studio, as a birthday present.

I'm inspired by the 'Old Master' portrait and figurative painters such as Rembrandt, Caravaggio, Da Vinci and many others and I much prefer realist styles of painting. I've set about doing a number of 'master' copies in order to learn a number of techniques, improving my skills in paint handling and rendering the human three-dimensional form as well as many other elements.

Although I'm focussed on portraiture, I'm hoping to try other genres such as landscapes, still life, wildlife and seascapes - in fact, anything that captures my imagination.
