About me
Hi, I'm an artist living in the central belt of Scotland.
I like to paint in a loose, realistic style although sometimes I get caught up in the details.
My inspiration comes from a variety of sources including family and friends, news and current affairs, holidays and life in general, music and even from the back of a sweet wrapper. Other times, I'm drawn to the colours and textures of a subject, the interplay of light and dark over a subject or just an idea that forms in my mind.
Some of my paintings provide a narrative while others try to convey a feeling which leaves the viewer free to interpret and make their own story. I don't feel tied to a particular genre of painting as my interests are so wide ranging.
I'm open to experimenting with different techniques, materials and methods but I always strive to create a piece which conforms to painting best practice and with longevity in mind.
When I'm not painting or doing arty things you'll find me out for a walk, down the gym or busy around the house and garden.
