My first self portrait and rather than do a conventional one, I thought I'd make it a bit different. I used the same approach I've used in some other portraits - a verdaccio underpainting followed by two or three layers of modelling and detailing. I still find trouble with several features of the face including eyes, nose, lips, wrinkles, hair - in fact all of it, really.
